Thoughts on the Year

It’s hard to believe another year has come and gone!   The turn of the new year always seems to be a time of reflection.  I have been thinking a lot about 2017 this week and wanted to share some of my thanks and thoughts with you.

First, I am thankful for so many people and so many opportunities this year.  I am grateful for amazing clients who have invited me into their most personal spaces and shared with me sentimental moments and big milestones in their lives!  These same clients have supported me with their referrals, encouragement and compliments. It is because of all of you that I am able to do something that brings me so much joy.  It is a wonderful feeling to have a client tell me I have made their home a more enjoyable place to create memories with their families and friends or a more peaceful retreat to escape all of the stimulation of the outside world.

I continue to be excited and passionate about the journey of cultivating and growing my design business. There isn’t a day or night that goes by that I don’t think about the how, why, where and when of improving the satisfaction and value I bring to my clients while balancing my desire to grow a sustainable and profitable business with being a mom, wife, friend, daughter, etc.  It is a balancing act for sure!  There is always more to learn about running an interior design business and a successful and profitable one at that.

I am also thankful for some amazing women who have supported and inspired me this year. I am encouraged and hopeful to see so many women in my community and really all over the world, lifting each other up and genuinely cheering each other on.  It has truly inspired me to want to do better – to stop comparing myself to others and instead to pave my own unique path.  This world is certainly big enough for us all to be successful.

So what’s in store for 2018?  I am excited for several upcoming projects with some established clients as well as some new ones.  I can’t wait to see what this year holds and look forward to some new challenges that push me out of my comfort zone.  One exciting part of this business is that no two projects are ever alike!

To end, I thought I’d share the before and after shots from one of my favorite projects of 2017.  It was a big transformation for a room that was never used in my client’s home.  I was so happy to turn it into a functional space that this family is now excited to use for entertaining or a quiet escape from the hustle and bustle of the rest of the house.
